Wise Wine Selection

Wine completes a dinner or special occasion. Choosing the right wine for a meal complements the food and brings out the flavors of the food. With so many different types of wine made throughout the world, the choice of what to drink can take some time, but with the right wine, the experience is worth it.

Chardonnay
This is a white wine with a fruity or oak flavor, depending on variety. It goes well with cheeses, seafood, and chicken dishes.

Gewürztraminer
A dry white wine from Eastern Europe, this has a flowery aroma and flavor. It goes well with salmon or other oily fish, cheeses, and Asian food.

Muscat
A sweet wine with a grape flavor, this is best enjoyed with salads and desserts.

Riesling
This is a white wine with the aroma of flowers. It goes well with poultry, seafood, pork, and veal dishes

Pinot Gris
A French white wine with a slightly citrus flavor, it pairs nicely with cheese and seafood, as well as pasta.

Pinot Grigio
This is a white wine with a tangy and crisp flavor. It is enjoyed with pasta, poultry dishes, and simple seafood dishes.

Chianti

Grüner Veltliner
A white wine popular in Europe, this is a bit dry but is known to pair well with almost any dish or variety.

Merlot

Cabernet Sauvignon
A delicious red wine with the flavor of currant, it is wonderful with red meat dishes and vegetables.

Silvaner

Volnay
This French red wine has a berry flavor. It tastes well with game meats and cheeses.

Sauvignon Blanc
A crisp white wine with a citrus flavor, this goes well with smoked foods, poultry, and light sauces.

Pinot Noir

Semillon

Gavi

Malbec
